Early Life & Education

Born on November 1, 1986, in Mahim, Bombay (now Mumbai), Ileana D’Cruz hails from a Goan Catholic father and Muslim mother background. At age ten, her family moved to Parra, Goa, where she completed schooling at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School. In 2003, she began modeling after being discovered in Goa, leading to portfolio shoots with Marc Robinson and ad campaigns for Electrolux, Emami Talc, and Fair & Lovely. She later graduated from the University of Mumbai before fully committing to her acting career.

Career

Breakthrough in Telugu Cinema (2006–2011)

Ileana made her feature film debut in Devadasu (2006), earning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. The same year, she starred opposite Mahesh Babu in Pokiri, which became the highest-grossing Telugu film at the time and cemented her status as a leading actress. She made her Tamil debut with Kedi (2006) and delivered notable performances in Jalsa (2008), Kick (2009), and Julayi (2012). Despite occasional box-office failures, she remained among the highest-paid actresses in South Indian cinema.

Expansion to Bollywood (2012–Present)

In Barfi! (2012), Ileana debuted in Hindi cinema as Shruti Ghosh Sengupta, earning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
