Huma Saleem Qureshi was born on July 28, 1986, in New Delhi to restaurateur Saleem Qureshi and homemaker Ameena Qureshi. Raised alongside brothers Saqib Saleem, Naeem Qureshi, and Haseen Qureshi, she completed her BA in History with Honours at Gargi College, University of Delhi. During college, she joined Act 1 Theatre Group and performed in numerous productions under mentor N.K. Sharma. In 2008, Qureshi moved to Mumbai after signing a two-year contract with Hindustan Unilever to appear in television commercials, notably for Samsung Mobile alongside Aamir Khan, where director Anurag Kashyap spotted her potential.
